FOOTLOOSE will walk weekly, or more often, as walkers VOLUNTEER to be Walk Leaders. If you would like more walks in your neighborhood, then please volunteer to lead one. Please get your write-up to us as soon as possible. Some people have started sending their write-ups by e-mail. If you prefer to use e-mail instead of snail mail, send your write-ups to Morris. See Lead a Walk for full details.
GUIDELINES for Leaders and Participants - First, it is important that no one walk ahead of the leader unless he has permission from the leader. Second, anyone dropping out of the walk before the end should notify the leader. Third, the leader should stop periodically to allow stragglers to catch up. This is especially important when the leader turns in another direction. Fourth, it is important that the leader appoint a sweep, who should be on the alert for any accidents or other incidents. Finally, anyone who is not a sweep should make sure that the person immediately behind him should be within his sight. This will keep people from getting lost.
If you have any other suggestions for making future walks both safe and interesting, please bring them up before the start of a future walk.
Also, it is very important that if you are scheduled to lead a walk, and you cannot keep your date, please let Morris know as soon as possible so that he can make other arrangements. Even on the day of the scheduled walk, Morris can be reached after 7:00 AM, so please call me if you can’t make it.
FOOTLOOSE HISTORIAN — Some of you may not know, but Barbara Strudwick is our Footloose historian. She already has albums of pictures and other mementos of previous memorable Footloose activities, but she is anxious for more. If you have any extra pictures of Footloose excursions, please bring them to a future walk to give to Barbara. Also, she would appreciate copies of any Footloose pictures you take in the future. Please label the back of any picture you give Barbara with the place where and date when it was taken. For more information, you may call Barbara at (714) 523-2599. If you are curious about our past, check out Our History.
